9/11 Benefit, March 27, 2004, Orlando, FL.

This show was sponsored by the Orange County SO, and held at the fairgrounds in Orlando. Nice weather and an interesting assortment of vintage and new Police vehicles, as well as muscle cars and customs made this a cool show. There were over two dozen emergency vehicles, not a bad turnout for the first show. For a good cause, they had a car show, auction and raffle, raising several thousand dollars.

Here's some highlights of the 2004 show:

Here's part of the caravan we came over with: '86 SSP Fire Chief, '88 Alachua County Crown Vic slicktop, '95 Oviedo CV slicktop, '96 Seminole County LT1 Caprice, 2001 Oklahoma Highway Patrol Camaro. We also had the Pinellas County '88 Diplomat in the photo below with us. We got quite a few looks on the highway as you can imagine.

This Diplomat has 118,000 miles on it, very nice car. It was kept and restored after the rest were sold off. There is one left that's used for driver training.

Nice pair of high performance rides, the Volusia County Corvette was a seizure and turned into a DARE vehicle, like many are. The B4C Camaro from Barwick GA is a traffic unit used daily, the Major drove it down for the show..nice car.

The 'Beat The Heat; program aims to keep kids off the street by getting them involved in organized racing. This Malibu from Duval County(Jacksonville) had a hot small block setup, fiberglass hood. It runs with the lightbar on.

Another Beat The Heat car from Alachua County, this car was an in-service unit at one time, runs low 10's. Nice Power Wagon in the background.
A nice assortment of bikes, Orange County in the foreground, Orlando in back.
Check out the graphics on the Lake Mary ride..nice. Sheriff's plate in front show that subtle cop humor that we all love.
One of the more unusual rides at the show.
Broward County Sheriff built this from one of their old rides..serious hydaulics. It's popular in their neck of the woods.
1953 Chevy from Jupiter Island, plain and simple.
Another custom graphics job from Lake Mary, this one on their DARE vehicle.
'56 Ford from Melbourne, nice restoration.

Here's one of the newer rides from Melbourne. Check out the lightbar mounted spot, only supervisors get pillar mounted spots. I haven't seen too many departments use these down here.

Nice Chevy from Ocoee, FL, one whopper of a fender mount siren! Car had 283, powerglide.
Here's a look at some of the vintage equipment in the Ocoee car.
This Orange County CV is still in service.

Orange County brought all kinds of stuff, including one of their Intrepids, done up in DARE graphics. They have quite a fleet, including Intrepids, Impalas, Caprices, Crown Vics, bikes, trucks, you name it. They even have Ford Contours in use!

In case you thought I was kidding about the Contours! There's also one at far left.
Palm Beach County Camaro was a seizure, sported a V6 and flashy graphics.
Phil Plantz' multiple SuperChevy winner started life as an FHP 9C1 Caprice..It's been completely redone inside and out.
Scott Waszak's FHP car sports some of the original equipment and decals less the two tone paint.
Sanford FL also brought a semi-restored Chevy for the show.
Volusia County Galaxie..Nice to see one that doesn't say Mayberry on the door.
VW Traffic Unit from Winter Springs..As expected, this guy surprises a lot of people! They also have a new Beetle. Nice graphics.
Not just Police vehicles, there were some other neat things to see..Here's Tokay Towing's custom 911 wrecker.
